Since he hates taking a tubby

George doesn't really like having a bath. He doesn't hate it, but he does squack and usually pees in the tub. One day when we were getting ready to go out, Tom took the boy into the shower with him and he liked it! It's been showers ever since.

Enjoying the spray

Gotta wash the tushy
And all the other bits

Afterwards, it's nice to relax in a warm towel.

George is such a boy!

Nobody ever asks us if George is a boy or a girl... he's such a little boy! I guess it helps that he's always dressed in blue and little polos and henleys and such. This cute outfit was a gift from Michael and Elika.

Poor boy! Rather than help him, I take pictures while he slumps!

Easter 2007

We had planned on driving up to Erie so the PA folks could meet George... unfortunately, a freak snowstorm closed parts of the interstate with white outs and car wrecks. We did get to Andy's house to stretch out for a couple hours but were unable to take any pictures as both our camera and Julee's had dead batteries. After relaxing for a bit, we headed back home.

Easter Sunday we went to Mass at St. Mary's. George was quite festive in his bunny hat. This picture will be brought out when he starts dating... I am so going to be THAT mom! HA!

Call CYS!!

How many examples of bad/incorrect parenting can you find in this picture?

  1. Baby is on the bed
  2. on a pillow
  3. with a blanket
  4. and a cat
  5. unattended (well we did pop in to check on him... and take a picture!)
  6. wearing nothing but a diaper

At least he's not sleeping on his stomach. If you had the basket of laundry in the background on your list you don't get a point for it... that's an example of bad housekeeping, not bad parenting. Amazing the boy is thriving, huh?

Baby faces

I'm ignoring you...

*MWAH* Kisses from the baby!

Happy one month birthday George!

March 19, 2007 - George is one month old! Hard to believe... I can't remember what it was like before he was with us - that may be because of the post-partum dementia or the lack of sleep, but I think it's because I love the little guy so much!

At his pediatrician appointment he measured in at 9 pounds 11 ounces and 20.5 inches.

Welcome to the world George!

George arrived on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 3:38 pm. He weighed in at 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. Once more for the record... I was NOT in labor for 28 hours. Heck, I wasn't even at the hospital for 24 hours before he arrived. And he was NOT in distress... he was just not happy with the contractions I was having that I could not even feel (shout out to Dr. Cabral the anesthesiologist for the awesome epidural!) so Dr. Ashkin felt it would be best to help him out. Tom was wonderful throughout the entire process, making sure I was ok and that the boy was all right when he came out, getting me ice chips even when the nurses said I couldn't have any, and just being there with me. Thanks to Gretchen for making me laugh (surely it's time to push!) those last few hours when I had to lay on my side hanging onto the bed rail so I wouldn't flop over.

Here he is at about 1 minute old -

He seems a bit dazed by the whole process!

He did NOT enjoy his first bath (still doesn't like them for that matter)...

but he did enjoy the back rub (and still does!)

And finally, after an hour of being banged around, he got to rest. Poor guy, he looks like he was in a fight. We brought him home on Thursday the 22nd. Getting ready to go home was an arduous task... first he had to get dressed (thanks to Ashley for the cute little outfit)... after days of hanging out in a diaper and t-shirt we expected him to wear clothes! After wrestling him into them, he decided it was a good time for a diaper change. In trying to keep his outfit clean while getting a new diaper on, we managed to let him pee on himself - including a good squirt on his face! The poor guy was NOT happy while we furiously wiped him down before the nurse came back into the room... and they still let us keep him!

And while I was induced to start labor, I don't think he was really overdue even though his due date was the 16th. When I had my first appointment with Dr. Ashkin I told him my calculations had the baby arriving on February 19. The doctors had him pegged for the 16th. It's good to know George listens to his mother. HA!
